Civics Teachers Headed to Harvard

Two teachers from the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District are headed to Harvard University this summer.

West St. John High School teacher Rochelle Darville and East St. John High School teacher Paul Panepinto are receiving an all-expenses paid trip provided by the League of Women Voters of Louisiana to attend the Case Method Civics Training workshop Aug. 18-20 in Boston. Each year, Harvard Business School hosts the workshop for teachers interested in improving civics education.

Each of these teachers had to submit an essay answering the question, “Why do you think public discussions about key moments of American democracy are valuable?” Only 70 teachers were selected from across the United States.
