For the 2025-2026 School Year:
Pending approval by the Federal Court, Fifth Ward Elementary School will merge with East St. John Preparatory, creating a Kindergarten-8th Grade configuration at the current East St. John Preparatory location. (Board approved 11-07-2024)
Fifth Ward Elementary students and East St. John Preparatory students will attend either East St. John Preparatory OR LaPlace Elementary School, depending on the residence of the student as it relates to the new attendance zones approved by the School Board on January 16, 2025.
Parents of students attending Fifth Ward Elementary and East St. John Preparatory will be notified, in writing from the student’s current school, of their child(ren)’s school placement for the 2025-26 school year. An Informational Parent Forum will be held in the near future, again, pending approval by the Federal Judge.
ALL other St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools will remain as is (both student population and site locations) for the 2025-2026 school year.
