The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District held its Music Matinee Music Student Showcase on May 6. The second annual showcase gave students from various schools the chance to share musical skills honed throughout the school year. The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District, with help from the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, began rebuilding its music programs in 2013. By next school year, every school will have a band program. Students can also participate in choir, have the opportunity to take piano lessons and can audition for talented music.
