St. John the Baptist Parish Schools Winter Weather Update

MLK Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed on the third Monday of January each year. King was the chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which protested racial discrimination in federal and state law and civil society. The movement led to several groundbreaking legislative reforms in the United States.

St. John the Baptist Parish Schools congratulates its 2024-2025 Students of the Year, who have been named Regional Honorees by the Louisiana Department of Education. All three SJBP students were named regional honorees by LDOE!!

5th Grade: Roman Graffeo, John L. Ory
8th Grade: Pilar Maxie, Laplace Elementary
12th Grade: Kori Williams, West St. John High

St. John the Baptist Parish Community Network consist of five sites within our St. John the Baptist Parish Schools and twelve childcare centers. There is a need to expand to allow us to serve more children ages Birth to 5 in our parish. We are applying for additional seats using the Coordinated Funding Request Form issued by the Louisiana Department of Education. We ask that you review the form in its entirety and comment on the proposed funding request.

Dear SJBP Family,
We hope this message finds you well. I pray you had a restful and joyful winter break. We are excited to welcome our teachers, students, and staff back to school this week. As we transition back into our school routine, we want to share a few important reminders.

PK - 12 Teachers engaged in Professional Learning throughout the district in preparation for a strong 2nd half of the year. All teachers participated sessions with their peers where they dug into standards, planning, assessments and how to ensure our students are learning at the highest levels!
